Prayer For the Good Use of Leisure

O God, in the course of this busy life, give us times of refreshment and peace; and grant that we may so use our leisure to rebuild our bodies and renew our minds, that our spirits may be opened to the goodness of your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for a Safe Vacation

Dear God,

First, I want to give thanks for the many blessings I DO have. Sometimes it’s easy to forget them.

I ask for the further blessing of a safe, enjoyable vacation. May my journey both ways be free of incidents, and I also ask that you help me and her overcome another hesitation and bring us together.

May everything fall into place so that we enjoy this special vacation.

Amen

I’m on Vacation Prayer

Gracious God, I’m on vacation! While it’s easy to say that, it’s harder to shift my heart and mind away from the busyness of the normal routine to this period of relaxation. Help me let go of my need to produce and my thoughts about what may happen at work while I am away. Give to me the blessing of releasing my mind and body to your care as the Good Shepherd who can lead me beside still waters and restore my soul. Then God, as this vacation unfolds, open my soul to you as if it were an empty canvas waiting for the creative touch of the artist’s hand. Guide this time to allow me to grow in faith and in the ways of Jesus Christ. Amen. — Pastor Kurt Jacobson

Prayer for a Blessed Vacation

Heavenly Father,

Please bless our vacation.
Help our family to have patience and understanding.
Guide us to be mindful of this gift of time together.
Help us to make compromises when necessary and handle any chaos that comes our way with Your love and grace.
Open our eyes to truly see the beauty of the memories we are creating that will last a lifetime.
Amen.

Prayer To Enjoy Vacation Stay

Gracious God, you are worthy of all praise and this day I dedicate to giving you honor and glory. As I enjoy these days of vacation, give me a heart of playfulness while I am away from the regular responsibilities of my life. Give me a spirit of adventure – a spirit that is ready to try new things, taste new food, experience new people and a greater appreciation for the people of my life. Give me courage to enter with abandon into the unexpected and untried. Grant me a desire to delight in what is new and different, knowing that I will grow in appreciation for the vastness of life and your creation, and return fuller for having been bold enough to trust all that you guide me into, through Christ my Lord. Amen. — Pastor Kurt Jacobson

Enjoy Times of Fun and Celebration Prayer

Father, I thank you that you want me to enjoy times of fun and celebration. You are the creator of fun and you love to see your children enjoying the world and gifts you’ve given them. Help me not be afraid to have fun. Help me pursue fun in ways that honor and bring you joy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer For A Break From Daily Work Demand

Gracious God, your Word shows me that Jesus was always looking forward as he lived his life in the mission you gave him. This day, as I revel in the different time of vacation, I’m also looking forward. I’m starting to feel that pull back to daily routine. But today God, help me appreciate the rhythm of life that comes with a Sabbath, a holiday, a break from the demands of daily work. In my movement from  activity to quiet, from thinking to being, from producing to relaxation, give me the softness of your Spirit that will keep my soul from moving too far ahead of you; slow my heart and change its beat to live fully in this day, through Christ. — Pastor Kurt Jacobson

Peacefully Prayer For The Body, Mind And spirit

“It is an attitude of receptivity to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit that embraces the whole of life, not just the time off from work. It is living confidently in a restful way, committing all of one’s life to the care of God and submitting unreservedly to the Divine will. Body, mind, and spirit are peacefully integrated in a life of obedience.” – Charles W. Nienkirchen

Restoration Prayer

Gracious God, thank you for being the God of my life and the author of all that is beautiful and restoring.

Today, give me eyes to see the wonders of creation. May the simple gifts that are so often buried under the activities of my life be revealed in ways which give you glory? May my heart that is so often distracted be clear and still? May my soul, hungry for peace, be fed by your grace? When I close my eyes in sleep this night, may I be filled with gratitude for the blessing of this leisurely day, through Christ my Lord? Amen. — Pastor Kurt Jacobson

A Prayer to Restore Fun in Your Life

So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun. – Ecclesiastes 8:15

He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. Ps. 23:2

Leisure Time Prayer

Gracious God, you are the author of time, the Ancient of Days. As my vacation continues and my mind drifts further from the daily routine of work, it is time to see and do new things now. The work that claims my heart is done now, and my soul is ready for a time of Sabbath rest. Help me be attentive and curious, open and aware, so that the images, experiences and encounters of this time may be like the flowers of the field, providing bounteous beauty to enjoy when work is again the order of my days. Amen. — Pastor Kurt Jacobson
