What is the meaning of Innalillahiwainnailaihirojiun?
Innalillahiwainnailaihirojiun is the Rumi writings for ‘We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return’. However, it is not only related to just death per se, but it can also be said when someone experiences a tragedy in life, loses something, suffer a setback or harm.
What To Say When Someone Dies In Islam?
The best way to do this is to start off with ‘Innalillahiwainnailaihirojiun…’ followed by the condolence message.
As a rule of thumb, I personally feel the message would be ideal to focus on these 4 things:
1. That all of us belong to Allah SWT (say “Innalillahiwainnailaihirojiun”)
2. May the family will be given strength and courage by Allah SWT to overcome this and/or
3. Pray the sins are forgiven for the deceased and he/she is in a better place
